That's what I was thinking. SO, I'm running low on my multivitamins. Any one know any good brands they think I should get?
Honestly, multi-vitamins are a bit overrated. -1- Many minerals compete for absorption. (e.g. calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, and iron) -2-Vitamins are both water soluble and fat soluble -3- To compensate for costs, most of the forms are the cheaper/less effective forms. -4- To compensate for costs, most of them are insanely underdosed. I'll never forget walking into GNC and the clerk telling me I need Mega Men because it contains BCAA's. A single days dose contained 5mg of BCAA's.
c'mon bro, centrum rulz. <i kid i kid 5mg's is proven to get you swoltered, this is not a joke. gotta love teh gnc crew. look into getting a simple blend like ACES, vitamins A, C, E, & S. Also B-100 would be a good choice.
I would literally just go to the store and get individuals of Vitamin A Vitamin C Vitamin E And Selenium B-Complex Take the B & C periodically on an empty stomach (water soluble vitamin). You might want to break them into pieces because most B complexes are waaaay overdosed, and it just comes out when you pee. A & E are to be taken with food (fat/lipid soluble vitamins). Emergen-C is a barrage of random vitamins and minerals, many of which fall under the 4 faults I had listed earlier with multi-vitamins. In the end, it's a easy to mix packet with vitamin c in it.
emergen-c's name explains it all. only use it in emergencies, like when you don't have anything else to take, and at that point you should go to the store to get some more vitamins. i do use 1 emergen-c product when sick though
dang thats a lot! I will print the list and get that stuff this weekend. I didn't know emergen-c had that much junk. Thanks guys!
As usual Vitamin D has been over looked or just plain forgotten. Technically not a vitamin, vitamin D is in a class by itself. It's metabolic product, calcitriol, is actually a secosteroid hormone that targets over 2000 genes (about 10% of the human genome) in the human body. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to every chronic disease known. It is recommended that one takes 200IU daily, however research done by Dr. Micheal Holick show the human body needs 5000IU daily. The purest form of vitamin D is producted by Carlson Labs.
