I'm 6'3 175 pounds of pure bone. I've tried taking creatine and protein shakes but it didn't seem to work. I lost the drive I used to have when I was in high school and I'm looking to boost that also. I could used a really good work out sheet the one I have done for the past year just doesn't seem to be doing anything. I'll take all the advice I can get thank you.

    Welcome to the forums, derek.

Let's talk about what you're doing currently. Let's talk diet habits and whatever this "workout sheet" is. This will help to establish where you are at, in relation to where you want to be.

    Welcome Derek,

Answer Mr. Bobs questions and lets see where that takes us.. Diet, habits and earlier experience may sound like a boring thing to talk about, but we need to know this to build a solid foundation for you to stand firm on.

I already have a plan in my head on what you should try out, but even if it's the best program in the world it wouldn't do any good if you don't have a solid foundation to stand on (Diet, knowlegde, etc).

A supplement like Mass-FX would most likely give you the right state of mind to kick-start the drive you need to kick some ass in the gym. But also that will fail if you don't have anything solid to stand on...

So come back to us with some information and we'll do the best we can to help you out. And remember, the more information you provide us with , the better we can help you back in return.

    Have a great day!

    It's boring, but effective.

You'll find you can get workouts from these exercise magazines and websites saying "do this if you want to get big like this guy [insert picture of some jacked dude]". The problem, of course, is if that actually worked, what the hell are they going to publish next month?

Based on the tone of your post, I'm guessing you are focussed on training, which tells me that diet is probably lacking.

Our bodies store energy as mass. Muscle mass and fat mass. If you are not taking in enough food energy, you are not providing your body with any substrate, and you are not going to gain any mass. Weight training is merely a common means to trigger the biological response to store more food energy as muscle mass.

    Welcome Derek...

As you can see, we are more than happy to help. I'm actually one of those guys that really like to mix it up every 6 weeks.

As Bob & Andréas stated, let's see what you have and we'll give you the workout/diet plan make over (um.. yeah.. that sounds pretty manly!)

i work my upper body on even days and my lower body on odd days. My diet isn't very good I'm not a huge fan on veggies and fruits. I wasn't taught how to work out when I was in high school and I know I'm not squating right or doing cleans right. I was only told to do like bench curls and squats. I want to get the total package. I'm a racecar driver and I need all the strenght I can get and its also personal satisfaction.

Diet is important. Moreso than fruits and vegetables is straight-up calorie intake. If you aren't gaining weight, you're not eating enough. Hitting it harder in the gym is only going to burn more calories.

If you're going for "the total package", as in proportionality, there's about 5 "major" muscle groups to focus on: (1) Legs (2) Back (3) Shoulders (4) Chest (5) Arms. How you want to split it up is up to you, but this shouldn't be a seven days per week ordeal; you need some time out of the gym for the muscle to actually grow.

If you want some more ideas on exercises and splits, check out the training section for logs and exercise-related topics: http://forum.anabolicx.com/forums/training-workouts-and-contest-prep.5/

This can't be stressed enough! Without the right kCals you're pretty much wasting time at the gym.

Hi Derek, you've got a lot of good advice right here in this thread :) these guys know their stuff. I learned a lot about proper form, terminology and muscle groups through internet searches, youtube and asking questions right here on AX. One site index I came across was this http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html which has a lot of short videos and diagrams on muscle groups.

Had to quote that 1 more time lol because it's so very true and important.

In the training workouts and contest prep section there's a Sticky thread up top with an article called Training 101. It's a very very very good read.
Anything else at all, just ask.
Welcome to the Forums Derek :)

I agree that getting some more info up all in one post would be good, specially some solid defined goals. Like "I want to gain ___ lbs if LBM by January 2012" or something like that.

I understand that u want the "complete package" but that can be a very different ideal from person to person.
From what I've read so far though lots of food would be a good place to start if you want to gain some weight :) if I'm interpreting "175lbs of pure bone" correctly.
I know there are Creatine "non-responders" but I would still give it a go again if I where you if you've only tried once. It's important with all supps to maintain consistency with doses in order to make sure you get the full effects. We'll have one available soon German Creatine

MassFX has helped many and is considered a favorite for adding on size.
Multi-vitamins and Fishoils I personally never go without and recommend for general well being
Protein shakes I'd leave for the "On the go" moments mostly or when u just need to add in those extra calories for the day.
Take a look through the Arsenal and read through the facts on each supp, see what seems right for your goals. It'll probably help you define those goals also :)
    Btw, cool Job!!
