Hey peeps :p Just thought I would start my training log, but first would like to thank ( thesinner ) for the inspiration for the name of it!!!!! I will be starting this log starting tomorrow, so stay tuned and all opinions and help is very much appreciated!! As some of you are aware I am really a newb at this weight training and stuff, so I will give you a breif summary of myself, I am 37 years old and am happily married with 3 kids all of whom are very involved in sports and school activities, so it is hard for me to go to a gym, so I bought me a home gym. It is a Weider system with 500lbs of olympic weights. Anyway I started this quest in January when I was weighing a whopping 246lbs, and now I am down to 208lbs, and am feeling great, but still when I look in the mirror, I see this spare tire thing going on, I do plenty of ab exercises every other day and I also do cardio every day except my leg days, and I just can't seem to shake it off, my wife says it will take some time, to just look at where I was and where I am now, and it keeps me a little motivated, any way, I am really doing this so that you all (My fellow AX Brothers ) can see what I am doing everyday and hopefully help me muscle up as well as loose this *** **** sparetire.
Thanks to ( VIPERSPIT )for hooking me up with a P/RR/S Training Schedule, I am going to be starting week #2: Rep Ranges, and will post my progress as I complete each day.
As for my supplements, I just take a multivitamin, Creatine Mono, Whey Protein, L-Glutamine, X-Tend, Vitamins C,D,B-6, and fish oil caplets. I eat very clean, although maybe once a week we eat out some where on the way to someone's game or school event, but even then I get some kind of a salad, or something good for me!! Here is mainly what I eat everyday:
    6:00 a.m. - 6 egg whites 1/2 cup oatmeal
    9:00a.m. - 1/2 cup oatmeal and a yogurt
11:30a.m. - salad with oil and vinegar and a can of tuna or salmon
    3:00p.m. - pre-workout shake
4:30p.m. - post workout shake and a bannana
6:30 p.m. - steak or chicken or fish with steamed veggies
8:00p.m. - 1 cup cottage cheese before bed
This is pretty much what I eat every day.
Well this is all until tomorrow, today is my off day, so will check in later!!

when do you do your cardio and what kind? you may consider doing a low intensity cardio AFTER your workotus to increase fat burning and cut down on catabolism.

Maybe have some BCAA's and then jump on the treadmill. I personally do not favor post-workout empty stomach cardio. His cortisol would be high as it is and doing long duration cardio on top of that would further exacerbate the issue.

Then again, you could stagger cardio so it is way far away from workout time. 4-6 hours. Or off days.

I usually go for a light jog or a fast paced walk after my workouts, but I was thinking of maybe jogging when I get up before work, and then my workout after work??

Thanks man just keep up with this and let me know how I am doing!!

Thanks for the support, that is why I like this forum much better than any of the others!!! I really, really hope to exceed my expectations!!!!

As long as there is a decent amount of time between the cardio, and your training, I'd recommend that. Me personally if I was to be doing cardio in a current phase of some kind, I train after my 2nd meal, so I'd do cardio late.

If you are going to do cardio first thing in the morning I'd take some BCAA's and keep it around 30min. Maybe a retain2, I don't really know the benefit of taking a cortisol antagonist like that before cardio, but it may be a good idea. Check with the others, they'd know better than me how the product could be effective in that scenario.

Look into HIT cardio 1-2 days a week, it could do wonders for fat loss. That'd be enough cardio during bulking. No need to do low intensity cardio at all, just HIT on an off day or two.

Try all things over a 6-8 week period and compare the results. Finding out what works for you takes forever. I am just starting to get a feel on things I know were a bad idea in the past.

I would agree but possibly stay between 30-45min in the morning. For me cardio in the morning on an empty stomach yields the best results for my body.

That's what I like to do if I jog during the week. I'll do it in the morning before I go to work, except if it's too cold outside. Then I jog at the gym after work, before I lift. (I don't have time to go to the gym before work). If I do cardio before I lift, I'll usually rest like 20 or 30 minutes whilst drinking a protein shake before I lift.(After finishing what's left of the amino drink I have before cardio). I prefer doing cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, although I might have some kind of amino drink beforehand. Right now I have Controlled Labs Purple Wraath.

Thanks guys, I love all the support you get at these forums, it is just awesome!!! Can't wait to get some money saved up to get me some good AX Products!!! Just to let you guy's know don't laugh when you see what I am lifting like I said I have only started lifting just recently, so I am kind of weak compared to most of you all!!! But I will get there soon enough!!!

Don't even think about what others are lifting. Everybody had to start somewhere. When I seriously started lifting at 19, I was 155 lbs at 6 feet tall. I was skinny and pretty weak. I know the feeling of looking around the gym and seeing all the big guys lifting heavy. I just tried to ignore it and do my own thing. Now, six years later, I'm one of the stronger guys in the gym. It's taken a lot of hours in the gym and a lot of dedication, but it's well worth it. Stay strong.

I second this. When I started lifting at 19 I remember working up to 135 after a couple months, and at 23 I bench alot more than that now. I don't even care what I can lift. Looking at my bodytype and how I am built people would think I have great lifts in the big three. Fact of the matter is, I still see people who bench more than me, and since a back injury I can no longer deadlift at all and I can no longer squat heavy.

It isnt about how much you can lift, it is about how much you look like you can lift.
  19. jswift New Member

always remember its not about the quanity of weight...but the quality of the lift....and you could also try HIIT cardio...you do it for less time and for me and some of the mma fighters, football, and other athletes at my school it has yielded great fat loss results and incredible endurance...cardio in the morning is debatable because for some it works...and others its hard because their body struggles to function without an energy source...so u could try it and see how it goes...
