Hey guys, I'm not really expecting super fast results but I'm just wondering if you have any advice for getting rid of really stubborn belly fat and fat around the lower pectoral area. I've been working out since I was 16(now 20) but it's been VERY on n off but i've gotten very good results even from that. I went from 232lbs about 29% bodyfat and now I'm down to about 205lbs 13-14% bodyfat and I've noticed really good fat loss in most areas even my legs which have always been massive(mix of fat and muscle though). I'm even able to start seeing my upper abs now from working so hard but they are more or less "flabs" because of the layer of fat still there. Any suggestions?

continue doing what you are doing and it will definitely start to come off.
you've defined it correctly with stubborn fat. you have some deep fatty tissue that is going to take time and steady progress to lose the fat around the outer pecs, around the belly button, and lower back.

Directing fat loss is not something that is really reasonable. Your body will lose the way it wants to unfortunately. Just keep dieting brother, It'll come off ;)

I have the same issues. I get ROADMAP veins in my legs before I see my abs start to come through. It's very depressing for me.

My saying has always been "Let the mirror be your guide".

The biggest mistake most people make is treating it like a temporary uphill battle. They'll diet crazy hard and lose a bunch of weight without any possible means of maintaining it. Truth be told, it's a constant uphill battle. Instead of sprinting up the steepest hill to get to the top, take the steady path with switchbacks. Keep finding ways to either eat cleaner or increase your activity level.

Well i've definitely been taking the steady path lately and eating completely clean except for a cheat meal about once every two weeks or so and I've added a lot more cardio lately to hopefully help with the stubborn fat. It's just so discouraging when I get in the pushup position just to see that extra fat hang down like I'm a pregnant woman doing labor exercises lol. I don't feel so bad when standing normal and being able to see my abs show through but man when I touch my stomach or get in a certain position it makes me wish I had the money for liposuction lol. I know I'm doing a fairly good routine though because results have been very encouraging on the rest of my body, just my lower pecs and stomach won't do much for me, but I'll keep trying. Thanks for the support guys.

Track your progress, bro. You don't have to do silly things like taking "progress pics" of yourself in the mirror, holding the morning newspaper. It can be as simple as.... wearing a belt? Why not. Every day you put it on, you can remember how 6 months ago, you were 2 notches to the left.

Well actually since you mention it Sinner, my belt that i've been using for about 4 years is actually too big for me now, i used to have it on the 4th notch, now I can go about 3 inches past the last notch, so that's definitely progress for me lol.

    That sure is progress.

This is what I mean. Sometimes we forget how far we've gone, if we don't have anything to look back to see where we once were.

Whatever you do, though, don't look at the scale. Scale = Fail. I can lose up to 10lbs in a single movement. With your weight fluctuating throughout the day and throughout the week, it's a poor measure of progress and ultimately just breaks the morale.

Yea I try not to look at the scale, my best friend told me that when I first started to workout. Told me never to worry about what the scale says but instead worry about how I look in the mirror.

That is excellent advise right there! I used to worry about the scale, but now go with what Bob has mentioned and use the mirror and belt as a guide. (Actually, just mirror, since I no longer need to wear a belt, just smaller pants!)

If I said to you that I'm 6'4", 315lbs, what do you picture? Some would picture a massive guy, either someone who is extremely beefy or someone who eats Doritos every night while watching TV. I'm neither, but a more "common dude" mix of the two. Weight itself can be deceiving, and never should be the sole measure of your physique, health, or happiness! I'm working to be a lower weight, but losing the fat. If I end up being 300lbs without the gut, then I'll be quite happy! If I end up being 300lbs and lose some of my mass, well... not so happy.

Keep working at it and make the changes that you make a lifestyle change, not a temporary "diet" change.

Agreed, far too often people focus on a number and what they think they'd look like at that number.
This ends up with people looking starved and drained.
    Mirror is the best method.
