The Professor's Offseason: From Fab To Flab!

I haven't been around very much so I figured this would be the best way to lurk more. Being stuck in a lab all the time eats at your brain! Lifting weights every once and a while keeps me sane.

Bodyweight November 2010 (my last competition): 175 lbs
    Current Bodyweight: 235 lbs

    Total Difference: 60 lbs

I don't plan on stepping on stage again for the next few years. At my height (5'11'' ish) Anything less than heavyweight status I'd make a fool of myself. This probably means a 250 walking weight with MANAGEABLE bodyfat.

At this point, I'm less concerned with bodybuilding and more concerned with being strong . If I lift heavy weights, the muscle will come. Since I'm taking such a long time off competition, my bodyfat doesn't mean to much to me either (although I like to maintain a look that shows I respect my body...)

I've started up strongman in the meantime, it's a good excuse to lift heavy stuff, get fat and enjoy life while still making progress in the gym.

I have already participated in two strongman competitions, most notably Arizona's Strongest man where I took 4th place in the lightweight division (231 and under) thats right... strongman has two weight classes, above or below 230...

Anyway, you'll see my journey from 6-pack to (currently) Keg and hopefully some big weights!

I'll post some of my more recent workouts so you guys can tell what the hell I'm up to.

These are some crazy numbers, man. Nice work.

Good luck during your time off from BBing. I took a break in '07 after being humiliated by a bunch of guys neck-high, but couldn't hack the carrying around the muscle mass I needed to be competative.

Can you elaborate on this sandbag exercise? It seems like something I might want to add to my arsenal. I'm currently seeking some not-so-conventional exercises which can be done outdoors. After being inside all day working in the lab/computer lab, it's nice to get some fresh air.

Thanks for the kind words, I've been hittin' it hard.

It's strongman, it ain't as complicated as it seems.

It's literally a bag stuffed with sand until it hits the 300 lbs mark, and I picked it up and loaded it to a 50'' platform. The sandbag load is SIMILAR to a stone load, but pound for pound I think the sandbags are harder.

The carry is just that, I pick it up (anyway is fine, whatever is the most comfortable) and take it for distance with turns at every 40 or 50 feet.

    Ok, I get it now.

Sand load would definitely be harder than a stone load. The finer particles will shift around more easily, so it's probably pretty tough to maintain a good grip.

    Lower Body: Garage was 120F!!!

    Back Squat:

    Bar X 10 X 2 sets
    135 X 5 X 2 sets

    Front Squat:

    135 X 5
    225 X 3
    275 X 1
    315 X 1 (PR + 35 lbs) (Knee Wraps)

Good Mornings with toes pointed in:

    135 X 5 X 8 sets (hammies were FRIED)

    Pull ups:

    BW X 5 X 5 sets (WIDE grip)
    BW X 6 X 3 sets (V-Handle)

Nice to slap some weight on the front squat. Haven't done a raw heavy single since late February.

    Subbed!

Workouts looking awesome, gruelling yet fun in a twisted way.

Gaining fat sucks but the PR's are worth it!

  14. The-Professor In the lab. BRB.

just did some lower body deloading. Did a conventional squat single in briefs at 365 and packed it up.

    Weighed 242 today.

Since I've dubbed this blog "From Fab to Flab" I thought I'd do it some justice.

First picture I'm in the 178 range about 5 weeks out from contest (October 2010) 15'' Arm
Second Picture was taken in June sometime at about 215 lbs
Third Picture was tonight at 242 Arm just shy of 18''

I think I might have even put like 2 inches on my NECK! lmao.

    There is NO offseason!
  16. thesinner Moderator

Get any bad stretchmarks from this fiasco?
  17. The-Professor In the lab. BRB.

Nope. I've been 260 super fat. So nothing NEW anyway.

On a side note, I have effing clue. I'm too hairy on my chest to see. And I haven't looked at my back in months. So, nothing on my arms anyway.
  18. thesinner Moderator

Oh, so you've got the built-in sweater, huh?
  19. The-Professor In the lab. BRB.

Something like that. I think Kevin was the only person blessed with a TRUE visual of its greatness.
