This thread is directed towards Dr.D and Dinoiii, please refrain from posting until the doctors have spoken. Then we can take the discuss in the correct direction. Thank you for your cooperation. Which fatty acids are the most effective for fatloss? Which fatty acids don't stack well together? Which do? What should fatty acids be stacked with? How many grams do we need to see benefits for each one? Please include CLA, Sesamin, fish oil, and others.
Preparing document in WORD form - will be up in full tomorrow - sound good? Didn't want to leave you hanging...but dinoiii has a lacrosse game to attend this evening (t-minus 2 hours). Great topic though - will offer my full retort, because I am heavily involved in this one for many reasons that will become much more clear soon. D_
So, I apparently had a life over the last couple of days, but yes, I didn't forget that this post existed and I have prepared my response. I hope it was worth the wait.... I sort of article-ized or dinoiiized it! Summary: Fat Loss Programs: < 150 pounds: 2 grams combined EPA + DHA, 500 mg Sesamin 3 times per day 150-170 pounds: 2 grams combined EPA + DHA, 8-10 grams CLA, 500 mg Sesamin 3 times per day 170-200 pounds: 10-12 grams, 3 grams combined EPA + DHA, 1000 mg Sesamin 3 times per day >200 pounds: 12-14 grams, 4 grams combined EPA + DHA, 1500 mg Sesamin 3 times per day dinoiii's note: I would recommend adding guarana to your morning doses of CLA at about 250 mg each dose. Assessing tolerance to this methylxanthine containing substance, you may want to be wary of caffeinated beverages as well as other methylxanthine containing products. But this is cheap with better research to boot in your fat loss arsenal and you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg either – generics rule. Oh btw, don’t ingest too much past say 1:00 or 2:00pm, however, another couple of PM grams of CLA would bode you well. Mass Style Programs: Simply Exclude guarana and Sesamin, though Sesamin may produce a nutrient-partitioning effect at least from a theoretical standpoint (however, cost-efficiency would dictate not employing it at this time) If I have yet to answer something to your liking or a specification is needed about something I have said...let me know. I don't think I covered the potential "insulin resistance" issue in my aforementioned response on CLA...please take a peak at the following bb.com thread for my thoughts there as well. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=1221971 D_
Amazing response/write up Dinoiii. Very informative, and useful. I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to write this up, I have always been an activist telling anyone and everyone that you need to eat "certain types" of fats to help you lose fat. Now I can throw some science at them.
Yes, dinoiiized indeed! That would have taken me 30minutes to consolidate my thoughts into an outline, 30 additional minutes to look up the things I wasn't sure if I'd remembered right and probably 2 more hours to type! Here is my very BREIF addition after D stole the show (J/K, that's what I get for taking a week, huh ) Oleic acid (monounsaturated) aids in cancer prevention and lowers heart attack risk and arteriosclerosis, or so the Germans would have us to believe! lol CLA is very isomer-specific. The trans-10/cis-12 isomer produces fat loss, whereas the cis-9/trans-11 isomer doesn't. Coconut Oil and MTC's promote thermogenesis. Oleoylethanolamide and Tetradecylthioacetic acid (TTA) promote good lipolysis at the proper dose. My generic oil blend while 'on' 30-45 ml/day 3:2:1 Flax/Saff/MCT My generic oil blend while 'off' 15-30ml/day 3:1:1 Flax/Saff/Coconut I also add dl-a-tocopherol acetate (Vit. E) to get 400iu/day. Don't be fooled into buying the good stuff! The cheap dl-alpha is a better anti-oxidant anyway and when you're taking that much, who cares if it's less bioactive, still big time over kill anyway. I add enough liquid USP lecithin to equal about a 1:10 ratio with the oils. I'm a lecithin-a-holic.
Good to see you chimed in Dr.D ( I think that info is certainly worthwhile and you bring up a couple of the guys I haven't spoken of like OEA + TTA, lecithin - which I have a lot of comments about btw, but of course, I would)- will comment on your posts after a quick nap and my own gym time. D_
Holy crap, I now have computer eyes, but the writeups were great and extremely informative. Now I'll have to sleep on it to help me decipher everything I just read....
Thanks a lot monsterstealth and you too egodog....uhhhh I think!!! Hopefully you are well-rested and it has since all come together quite nicely. D_
Sending back another thread from bb.com (some more pertinents and nay-sayers)... http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.p...=1#post19268561 D_
I just wanted to add that my points re: MCTs have also been included in that bb.com thread that I listed in the previous post now - and in more official detail than what I talked about in this thread initially. It namely gives more reason to dismiss MCTs in supplemental form (but a little coconut oil never killed anyone - lol). D_
Really good read D, Just a heads up for anyone interested in trying CLA. Vitamin World sells tonalin CLA 180 softgels for 30 dollars. If you go in the first monday or tuesday of the month their buy 1 get 1 free, basically 50% off (so you can pick up a 180 softgel bottle for 15 bucks on their sale days). Pretty good deal.
Totally awesome information. Side note: I can pick up 1000 70% standardised CLA caps for $60US, but it's not Tonalin. It's a bulk purchase kind of thing, is that going to be of any use or am I best off going with the stuff that's definately Tonalin. Thanks!
Dinoiii says Tonalin is a must when buying CLA because that is what the studies are based on. I personally use Primaforce MAX CLA which is not Tonalin because it is cheap and I trust the company.
Is it inappropriate to say I don't care for their CEO? Whoops, likely was just implied ... right? damn. D_
Amazing post dinoiii. Thanks for taking the time to explain the mechanisms by which the mentioned fats actually work. We all get told what you need and dam, I have even told people myself, but it feels good to know why!
haha that was the first thing taht pooped in my head right before the HUGE yellow bottle of that stuff i used to own.... wont eva agian now for more then one reason. thanks for all the insight D's its a great thread and should be bumped more often. as well as its fuel for the fire i wage agianst my girlies fat burnin crusade once tha babbies out and her thinkin ONLY stim x will do.... i ask that she DO take stim x but use healthy fatty acid alternatives to get her goals done and improve much more then just her looks.
